FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Laughlin Chamber of Commerce has upgraded their small business services by adding a Laughlininfoconnect@laughlinchamber.com SKYPE account, software and hardware for Nevada Small Business Development Center business counselors to meet with entrepreneurs in Laughlin. The meeting space is private, convenient, and professional and has access to business related equipment and supplies free of charge.  “Educating and building a vibrant and prosperous resort town is our mission and we are here to provide the services needed to both prospective and existing business to succeed.” stated Jackie Mazzeo, Executive Director.

Allan Parker has been a Nevada SBDC counselor for 16 years out of the Pahrump office. He has extensive experience with business development, finance, planning, and sales. Mr. Parker also travels to Laughlin as needed, but this new arrangement will allow the Chamber and Nevada SBDC to be more responsive to businesses and entrepreneurs that need immediate assistance.

Nevada SBDC’s 15 offices provide technical training and advising, skills needed to successfully grow small business and create jobs. Typical services include help with business start-up and growth, forming legal entities, obtaining financing, writing a business plan, marketing, researching competitors and industries, recordkeeping, understanding cash flow, buying and selling a business, improving customer service, setting up websites, developing technologies, importing/exporting, and social media training. Nevada SBDC counselors mentor and assist businesses long-term, as well as facilitate mutually beneficial relationships for businesses, for example, connecting buyers with suppliers and matching businesses with complementing services. Counselors also advocate, challenge, and help with planning and operational decisions, so small businesses have a support team. Nevada SBDC services are free and confidential.

Says Sam Males, State Director, “The Laughlin Chamber has been a long-time host of Nevada SBDC services. Utilizing Skype from the Chamber office will make it efficient and cost effective for Nevada SBDC counselor, Al Parker, to provide Nevada SBDC technical assistance in Laughlin.” The Chamber and Nevada SBDC have mutual economic impact goals for Laughlin – increasing business starts, job creation, and financing for businesses.

The Nevada Department of Business & Industry enthusiastically supports this new approach via Laughlininfoconnect@laughlinchamber.com SKYPE. “We applaud the effort and commitment of the Laughlin Chamber and Nevada SBDC towards providing new ways to serve and help entrepreneurs and business owners. This telecommunication application easily gets folks connected to the right people and resources for starting, running or growing a business in the region” says Marcel F. Schaerer, Deputy Director in Las Vegas for Business & Industry.
