Grant funding that started a new Laughlin-only emergency assistance fund in April has helped around 150 Laughlin residents but without community support, the well could run dry in the next few months. It's called the Caesars Laughlin Community Social Services Fund and started with a $15,000 grant from Caesars Foundation, the parent company of Harrah's Laughlin Beach Resort & Casino and Tropicana Laughlin.

River Fund President and CEO Mike Conner said this help has included utilities, rent, car repairs and paperwork needed to maintain employment at the Laughlin resorts.

The area’s largest emergency assistance nonprofit counts on grants and donations to provide help for individuals and families facing crisis situations in the Tri-state area. Corporate partnerships and government grant programs have helped River Fund provide assistance on the Arizona side of the river, but these programs are few and far between on the Nevada side so community support is needed to continue helping Laughlin residents in times of need. River Fund is reaching out to Laughlin residents and businesses hoping to secure donations to keep the fund going after the initial grant funding runs out. River Fund has impacted more than 80,000 lives with immediate emergency crisis and hardship assistance totaling more than $4 million throughout the Tri-state area since its inception in 2010. The organization’s motto is “Locals Helping Locals” – all the funds stay in the local area to help individuals and families in need.
