Police Chief Responds to Protest Plans

BOULDER CITY – The City of Boulder City is aware of a local Facebook invitation to a protest planned near the Boulder City Police Department for Thursday, June 4, 2020. The following statement is from Police Chief Tim Shea:

“I am personally and professionally appalled what occurred in Minneapolis. Boulder City Police Officers are trained on proper restraint methods and to deescalate use of excessive force as appropriate. While disappointed that a local resident has decided to make Boulder City Police Department the location of the protest, that individual has a Constitutional right to protest peaceably on City property. Our officers will monitor and ensure any planned protest remains civil.”

Several business leaders asked if they should shut down during the planned protest. City leadership does not believe this action will be necessary, but business owners should decide what is best for them.
