Efforts to Secure Dust Permit from Clark County Dept. of Air Quality Unsuccessful

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 23, 2021) – Best In The Desert regrets to inform everyone that Time Trials for the upcoming Jimco Racing Silver State 300 have been canceled. The reason is a last-minute requirement by Clark County Dept. of Air Quality (DAQ) that BITD secures a never-before-required “Dust Permit.”

We had been working diligently with Clark County to secure the necessary Use Permit to host our Time Trials near Jean. All was moving along just fine until the DAQ informed us of this new requirement and therefore the Use Permit could not be issued,” commented Best In The Desert Co-Owner Daryl Folks. “The fact that dust permits are now required for off-road racing events in Clark County is a relatively new phenomenon, one that we haven’t had to deal with previously and is another indication of the changing times in which we live. We realize this negatively impacts the classes that were part of Time Trials and we apologize for any inconvenience this may create. The permit for the actual race is in hand and we are full speed ahead to go racing on Saturday, May 1.”

Jeff Phillips, Race Operations Mgr. of Best In The Desert adds, “The start procedure will go back to the Best In The Desert rule book for non-qualifying races and the start order will be based on the 2021 Point Standings for those entered at the drawing. All those signing up new will use the draw which took place last Wednesday. All entries after that will go based on when received. As for the rest of the event, we are looking forward to getting things rolling with our Event Expo, Registration and Contingency on Friday, April 30, and then go racing bright and early on Saturday morning, May 1. The Jimco Racing Silver State 300 is one of the most unique and fun events on the Best In The Desert calendar and this year will be no different.”
