CONNIE DAVIS 5K WALK FOR CANCER
The Laughlin Chamber of Commerce annual 5k cancer walk has been renamed the Connie Davis 5k Walk for Cancer after the passing of their director, Connie Davis, who proudly served the Chamber and our entire community for over 17 years before succumbing after her 3rd battle with cancer.
She was called a “warrior princess” by some – her first battle with cancer was stage 4 and yet she was declared cancer free after her treatments. She fought bravely for many years, and was an inspiration to everybody she met – never letting cancer define her, and never allowing it to stop her from fully enjoying life and her beloved family and friends each and every day she lived.
The Connie Davis 5k Walk for Cancer will be held this Saturday, March 4th, with registration and check-in starting at 8am at the Pyramid Canyon Day Use Area in Laughlin off 163. (Take 163 2.3 miles from Hwy 95, turn right on Davis Dam Road, and you’ll find us about 2 miles further.)
For those who have already registered we advise that you still arrive early in order to check-in and pick up your t-shirts. If you haven’t registered yet, please stop by the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce to pick up some registration forms. You may also click here to email Michelle, give her a call at (702)298-2214 ext 0, or simply show up on Saturday morning to register in person.
100% of the proceeds from this fundraising event go to the River Fund Cancer Connection – their sole purpose is helping LOCAL cancer patients in need. Attendees will also be able to register for the Relay for Life cancer walk.
While this is a walk honoring those still fighting their battles and those we’ve lost, we wish to honor them by celebrating their lives and remembering the good times. After the walk there will be entertainment provided by Billy Kay, food by Chef PT, and a few other amazing surprises. If you have ever attended one of our cancer walks in the past you will be in for a huge surprise this year – it’s above and beyond anything we have ever done. We sincerely hope to see you on Saturday!
