$28,000 AWARDED TO CHARITIES AT KID ROCK CONCERT
LAUGHLIN, NV—Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Tri-State Military Moms received checks to fund their work in presentations just prior to the Kid Rock concert at the Laughlin Event Center on Veteran’s Day. DAV received $10,000. Military Moms were given $18,000.
CONCERT TICKET SALES PROCEEDS HELPS DAV
A portion of ticket sales for the Kid Rock concert was guaranteed by the Laughlin Event Center, Colorado Belle & Edgewater Casino Resorts to support Disabled American Veterans programs. The ceremonial $10,000 check for the DAV was presented by Colorado Belle & Edgewater Sr. VP & GM Ryan Walker to Ric Spillane, Adjutant of the DAV London Bridge Chapter 27, given this year in memory of the late Richard Ruff, Colorado Belle and Edgewater Chief Engineer and US Army veteran who passed away this year. Adjutant Spillane said the money will once again be used to fund their ongoing programs of providing transportation for veterans as well as to assist veterans with financial needs, including helping to pay utility bills and mortgages.
R.E.D. T-SHIRT SALES BRING CHRISTMAS TO TROOPS
Proceeds from sales of “R.E.D.” (Remember Everyone Deployed) T-Shirts sold by Laughlin casinos were donated to Tri-State Military Moms. Each casino purchased and printed the t-shirts and sold them to employees and guests to support the effort. Laughlin properties participating this year were Riverside, Aquarius, Edgewater, Colorado Belle, Tropicana, Golden Nugget, River Lodge, Harrah’s, Pioneer, Regency and the Avi. The check for the Military Moms was received by Sue Trani, the organization’s Treasurer, and Carol Janton, Sgt. At Arms. The gift will be used to pay for the organization’s Bullhead City “Heroes Highway” banners and to purchase items for and mail boxes to be sent to troops overseas. Items purchased for the boxes include specialty military socks, hand warmers, beanie hats, Christmas decorations, hygiene items, canned goods, cookies and items not always accessible to US troops. Cost to mail each box is $17.65.

The Colorado Belle and Edgewater Casino Resorts are owned and operated by Marnell Gaming, LLC, a limited liability corporation which owns gaming establishments in Laughlin, Nevada. About TRI STATE MILITARY MOMS:
The organization sends 60-80 packages to our troops every other month and organize welcome home and deployment events for our local military men and women. They participate in community events and fundraising activities to support projects to bring an awareness to the community for the need to recognize our military and veterans for the sacrifices that they make for our freedom. Highway 95, dubbed “Heroes Highway”, has the photographs and branch insignia of active duty military service members in the Tri State Area on banners. They currently have over 150 nominees who are honored on the light pole banners along the highway. The program to display banners of military service members on an Arizona highway is the first of its kind in the state of Arizona. It is sponsored through the generosity of the community and visitors with no cost to the nominee or family. Cindy Frizelle (Co-Founder President), said they organized Tri State Military Moms to honor the memory of three men specifically and to all who have made the ultimate sacrifice and continue to serve. Those honored include USN Combat Corpsman Dustin “Tex” Burnett, KIA Afghanistan 2008; USN Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Michael Monsoor KIA Iraq 2006, and USMC Cpl. David Frizelle, (deceased) decorated Marine veteran OEF/OIF 2001-2003.
Sue Trani (Treasurer)
Sue joined the Tri State Military Moms shortly after her nephew was killed in Iraq in 2006. He was a Navy Seal, Michael Monsoor, who was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Bush for sacrificing his life for his fellow Seals and his country. She continues to support the military in remembrance and honor of his service.
Carol Janton (Sgt. At Arms)
Carol had been with the organization for about 4 years when her grandson (Arron Johnson) entered the Army. He has been deployed to the Middle East and is now stationed in Washington. Most recently, her second grandson, Austin Keating, graduated from Army Cavalry Boot camp, deployed to Korea and has returned to Ft. Stewart, Georgia.
