Similar to a pop-up farm market.  A truck delivers fresh fruits & veggies and we pop-up in the parking lot to serve over 400 households around the tristate region.

Mojave Desert Nutrition & Lifestyle Initiative - Wellness Studio, and Caring Hearts Food Ministry Inc., sponsors the monthly mobile pantry event via different Host Site locations.    Produce & Food Distribution begins every third Friday monthly - Rain or Shine! Hours will be from 11am - 2p or until produce is distributed.

WOW is distributed "Farmer's Market Style" with a sign-up made at entry to the site.  There are up to 39 different varieties of produce accepted and the WOW distribution can have from 6-14 different produce items dependent solely on availability. Tables are marked with how many of each item can be chosen. Supporters select and choose which items they desire. Volunteers help to monitor and sort the produce as it is being distributed. Several stations may be set-up with lines forming at each station.

Too much produce?....Pool your resources and share the produce with neighbors, friends, family, or someone who is in need. There are no restrictions or qualifications to become a W.O.W. Supporter. Anyone who contributes can receive up to 60-lbs of produce for FREE.  Unrestricted access. No hassles, No qualifications. Everyone is welcome.
(Special considerations are made for non-profit food & health programs to receive ‘After-Hours’ distributions.)

It is STRONGLY suggested for faster, easier service, that Supporters bring wheeled carts, dollies, wheelie coolers or a friend or youngster to help carry and collect the produce. Boxes & Carts may be available on site dependent on availability.

We need 400 households to make our site a success. TELL YOUR FRIENDS-NEIGHBORS-COWORKERS!!!! Anyone residing in the TriState or Visitors driving by - All are WELCOME.
Anyone from anywhere in the TriState CA-AZ-NV region can participate at the W.O.W.  Signup with a name and zip code. You do not have to be a resident of the immediate area to become a Supporter

Anyone who is interested in “Farmer’s Market” Style fresh Produce can participate.

Donations gratefully accepted but not required.

We are always in need of: shade canopys/awnings and, 35 dedicated Volunteers to help us "pop-up" in the parking lot.

DETAILS:
A large portion of Produce received at Food Pantries, Food Banks and Food Ministries is "Ugly-Unwanted-Blemished-Oversized" or perfectly ripe n' ready to eat fruits n' veggies, that are deliciously tasty, nutritious, very edible and totally worthy to consume. Billions of pounds of unwanted or rejected produce is simple thrown into landfills and wasted. Lettuce be part of the solution and be open to provide our communities with affordable Produce grown naturally.

St. Mary's Foodbank Alliance has been rescuing nutritious produce for over 40 years - Annually, between 30-40 million pounds of 39 different varieties of produce. The rescued produce is distributed with the help of more than 300 non-profit registered agencies which include 18 other U.S. States. Billions of pounds of produce come through the Mexico gates at Nogales, AZ and is often rejected. $4 billion worth of fruits and vegetables comes through the Nogales, Arizona border crossing. Most gets distributed to all parts of the U.S. and Canada, but some gets rejected before it leaves the city of Nogales. SMFBA gives produce a second life by redirecting it to food insecure families across the country and in Arizona. Much of this rejected or unwanted produce would be slated for the landfill if not for the generous Distribution donations and work of  its Volunteers to rescue Ugly, Unwanted, Blemished, Oversized, or Overstocked fruits and vegetables. Before these fruits and vegetables are sent to landfill, they intercepts the products to try and give them a second chance to feed people in need.

Currently, the organization rescues 35 to 40 million pounds of edible produce each year. “Some produce arrives spotted, or there’s scarring or black dots on the product, but it’s perfectly good,”  “By rescuing this poundage of produce we are able to move it to families who aren’t able to eat nutritiously.” Distributing this rejected -- but perfectly safe -- produce is a massive undertaking.

The Mojave Desert Nutrition Initiative has worked diligently to open this program in Bullhead City-Mohave County since June 2015. Eventually W.O.W. will be opened in other cities within Mohave County. Subscribe to the monthly newsletter for updates, schedule, pop-up pantries.
